The National Junior Honor Society of HJH collected new socks for the homeless during the month of October. Students collected socks and turned them in to their first-period teacher. The class with the most socks in each grade level received a prize. The response by students, staff, and parents was awesome! NJHS was able to donate 1,777 pairs of socks to the Hardee Help Center. Mrs. Martha Smith, NJHS sponsor, shared that the Help Center was elated to receive this donation and said that it will help so very much. Mrs. Sheena Newman and Mrs. Tereasa Rosenberg, NJHS sponsors, assisted with the collection and counting of socks. Listed below are the winners for the most pairs of socks collected by grade levels:
8th grade - Mrs. Angela Wandrey - 80 pair
7th grade - Mrs. Beckie Johnson - 1,057 pair
6th grade - Mrs. Laura Hayden - 73 pair
Electives - Mr. James Johnson - 43 pair
These students were treated to chips and soda. HJH is definitely community-oriented and we are proud. :)
