The HJH 2023-2024 Odyssey of the Mind team is working diligently to prepare for the state competition which will be held on March 30th. The team participated in Regional Competition on February 4th where they placed 2nd and were allowed to move on to state competition.
Odyssey of the Mind is about teams solving a problem by creating a presentation with your ideas. Although you have coaches to support and advise you, all of the ideas and the work on the solution come from the team members. One of the most important parts of this program is that nobody outside of the team (not even your parents, friends, or teachers) can contribute ideas or participate in designing or constructing the solution.
In addition to the long-term problem, at all competitions, the team will be presented with a spontaneous problem which they must solve or respond to in a matter of minutes. Competing in and practicing for Spontaneous can be fun, while also sharpening your creative and quick thinking skills. Team building is a very important part of spontaneous training.
Current members of the HJH OM team are Reagan Albritton, 8th grade, Reid Miller, 8th grade, Anderson Gray, 7th grade, Violet Johnson, 6th grade, Kevin Kight, 6th grade, Hunter Rudolph, 6th grade, and Olivia Snead, 6th grade. This team is ready to conquer all of the challenges and shine bright in all of their performances. Odyssey of the mind Coaches are Micaela Ford and Martha Smith.
