HJHS Student Council?

Application Timeline

September 5th -Students can start picking up packets before or after school in room 609 from Mrs. Neal or in room 716 from Mrs. Rasnake.

September 13th -The deadline for submitting the completed packet to Mrs. Neal in room 609 or Mrs. Rasnake in room 716 is by 3:15 p.m. on September 13th. No packets will be accepted after the deadline.

September 20th -  Students running for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Historian must submit their campaign videos via email to Mrs. Neal and Mrs. Rasnake by 3:15 p.m.

September 23rd - 27th - Campaign Posters can be hung up in the halls and cafeteria

September 30th - Elections will take place in 7th and 8th-Grade History/Civics classes directly after our Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence.   

About the HJHS Student Council

  • Do you want to make a difference this year?

  • Do you want school to be an even more fun and exciting place to be?

  • The HJHS Student Council plans and organizes events for middle school students as well as creates fundraisers to help the community. 

Who Can Participate?

  • The HJHS Student Council will consist of students in Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Members must complete an application and meet the academic requirements

  • We are looking for some dynamic, enthusiastic, and committed Middle School students to join the Student Council for the 2024-2025 school year. Qualities necessary for any member on the student council are:

    • Leadership skills – Are you willing to lead committees and be a representative for your class?

    • Creative – Are you able to think of new and exciting activities and fundraisers for the student council?

    • CommunicativeCan you share ideas with other student council members, your class, and the entire middle school?

    • Team player – You could be working with a team to generate ideas and organize events for the Student Council.

    • Responsibility – You may be responsible for running activities throughout the school and you must be reliable.

    • Commitment – This is a year-long activity, and if you volunteer now, you will be expected to come to all meetings for the remainder of the year. There will be at least eight (8) meetings throughout the year after school, so if this does not fit your schedule, please do not volunteer.
