Hardee Junior High School participates in the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. AVID is a global nonprofit organization that operates with one guiding principle: Hold students accountable to the highest standards, provide academic and social support, and they will rise to the challenge. 

AVID not only promotes College Readiness, AVID is a key component in Career Readiness. The organizational skills taught through the AVID program will help your child throughout the rest of their lives.

Listed below are some of the items that teachers will be looking for when students arrive at each class.


  • An agenda is present in the binder
  • Assignments are filled out for each class

  • Work is checked off when completed

  • Monthly calendar for this month is in use


  • There is a labeled divider for each subject

  • Binder has a supply of blank loose leaf paper


  • No loose papers in pockets, agenda, or folders

  • Work is filed in rings by subject into correct sections

  • Work is organized in chronological order


  • All work has a title and is dated (handouts too)

  • Work is neat and assignments are completed

  • Complete Cornell Notes
