NEW Robotics Class at HJH

New at Hardee Junior High School this year is Maria Bina's robotics class. Students enrolled in the data science and machine learning class are selected advanced mathematics students. These students also have a strong interest in robotics. Ms. Maria Bina says, "The goal of this educational program is to give students hands-on experience in learning, practicing, and applying the basics of coding." Maria Bina has a Bachelor of Science in Information System Engineering. Bina says, "I enjoy introducing and applying engineering concepts in the classroom. The students become inventors!" Students in Bina's class build robots by applying the codes they create in class. In a recent project, students were able to work in groups to build their robots, and through trial and error create precise code to develop a functional robot. Future projects include students exploring kinetic energy with movement using variable speed. The students are going to convert the rotation per second into the distance and the distance traveled over time into speed. Bina says, "I believe that technology in education holds an important place in today's modernized tech world."
